My Goal for This Project
The purpose of this design project was to create a portable night lamp that met the needs of users who wanted a little extra light during the night, whether they were reading in bed or making their way to the bathroom. The lamp was meant to be practical and easy to use, and to function in a variety of settings, both in bed and on the go.
In addition to its practicality, the lamp was also meant to be aesthetically pleasing and add a touch of warmth and coziness to the bedroom. It was intended to be a desirable addition to any home, and to fit in with a range of decor styles.
Overall, the goal of this design project was to create a portable night lamp that was both functional and stylish, and that enhanced the user's sleep experience.
Product specifications:
This portable night lamp design project focuses on creating a functional, aesthetically pleasing product that meets the needs of the user. The product specifications outlined in this brief will guide the design process to ensure the final product is practical, portable and easy to use while also fitting in with the desired ambiance of the bedroom.
Sufficient to light up the path at night, but not too bright as to be disruptive as a night lamp: This specification is necessary to ensure that the lamp can provide enough light to see by while navigating to the bathroom, but not so much light as to be disruptive to the user's sleep or that of a partner.
Appropriate for a nightstand, not too large or bulky: To ensure that the lamp can be placed on a nightstand without taking up too much space, and is easy to move around.
Sturdy and well-constructed: To ensure that the lamp will be able to withstand the everyday use and handling it will receive, as well as being able to maintain its aesthetics over time.
Wireless charging capability: allows for convenient charging of the battery and ensure the lamp is always ready for use.
No exposed wires or sharp edges, UL-listed: This specification is necessary to ensure that the lamp is safe to use, with no exposed wires or sharp edges that could cause injury, and that it has passed relevant safety standards and certifications
Warm and inviting, around 2700-3000K: This specification ensures that the light emitted from the lamp will have a warm and inviting tone, which is conducive to creating a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere without putting strain on your eyes.
The lampshade should be designed to be detachable and function as a flashlight. The lampshade/flashlight should charge wirelessly on the stand via magnets, ensuring it's always charged and ready for use. This feature makes it easy and convenient for the user to put on and take off at night.
Does not blind or strain the eye: To ensure that the lamp will not strain the user's eye when it is in use, making it comfortable for the user when reading or trying to navigate during the night.
The lamp should have a clean, minimalistic design that is aesthetically pleasing and fits with a range of decor styles.
